Don't let this happen again — register your next bike with BikeTagz for cryptographic proof of ownership.
What to do if your e-bike is stolen
- 1.File a police report immediately. You'll need this for insurance claims. Include the serial number if you have it.
- 2.Report on BikeIndex.org. The national stolen bike registry that police departments across the US reference when they recover bikes.
- 3.Post on local social media using the generator above. Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and OfferUp are where thieves resell quickly — check those too.
- 4.Check local pawn shops within 48 hours. Many states require pawn shops to hold items for 24–72 hours before resale.
- 5.Alert local bike shops. If a thief tries to sell a stolen e-bike for parts, it often ends up at a bike shop.
Having the serial number dramatically increases the chance of recovery. If you don't have yours recorded, find it now — it's usually stamped on the bottom bracket or frame.
